Texas High School Basketball - Mansfield Summit overwhelms Cleburne
February 5, 2011: Cleburne, TX 76033 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Mansfield Summit Jaguars (Arlington, TX) and the host Cleburne Yellowjackets (Cleburne, TX), saw Mansfield Summit's basketball squad trounce Cleburne by a score of 73-33.
With the victory, Mansfield Summit improves its record to 22-7 on the campaign. The Jaguars host Joshua (Joshua, TX) to battle the Owls in a 4A Region I District 7 challenge on Monday, February 7. The Owls come into the challenge with a record of 1-23. Joshua lost 55-23 in their recent league challenge against Burleson (Burleson, TX)
Next up, the Yellowjackets battle the Crowley Eagles (Crowley, TX) in a 4A Region I District 7 challenge, on Monday, February 7. Cleburne will attempt to improve on its 3-23 season record.
First Quarter
The Jags used a blizzard defense to storm out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter against the Yellow Jackets in Cleburne in a makeup game caused by Super Storm 2011 in the Metroplex.
Second Quarter
In the second quarter the Jags continued their domination over the Yellow Jackets with several three pointers and a smothering defense reminiscent of the snow and ice which caused the cancellation. The score at halftime was Summit 46-13.
Third Quarter
As the second half started Summit substituted freely and 12 of 14 players ended up scoring and the score was 56-25 at the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The fourth quarter was more of the same Summit defense and good offense, while Cleburne continued to struggle. The final score was 73-33. Wesley Davis and Isaiah McFail led Awith 11 points each, while senior center Colvis Higgins chiped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Jags record is now 22-7, 9-1 in District 7-4.
