New York High School Lacrosse - Seaford overwhelms Kellenberg Memorial
April 5, 2011: Uniondale, NY 11553 The Seaford Vikings (Seaford, NY) lacrosse triumphed over the host Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds (Uniondale, NY), 14-8 in Tuesday's non-league outing.
With the triumph, Seaford upgrades its record to 4-1 on the season. The Vikings host North Shore (Glen Head, NY) to battle the Vikings in a Section 8 C outing on Friday, April 8. The Vikings go into the outing with a record of 3-2.
With the defeat, Kellenberg Memorial drops to 0-4 on the season. The Firebirds host St. Mary's (Manhasset, NY) to battle the Gaels in a Catholic - Island outing on Thursday, April 7. The Gaels go into the outing with a record of 0-4. St. Mary's lost 17-1 in their recent league outing against St. Dominic (Oyster Bay, NY)
Game Summary
Seaford came out fast, winning the first quarter 5-2, and added 6 unanswered goals in the third quarter, to defeat Kellenberg 14-8. Their offense was led by the Viking attack of Will Montgomery (3&4), Anthony Marino (3&3) and Tommy Curran (4 goals). Middie Kevin Glazer added 2 goals. Justin Buckley had another outstanding game facing off (almost 80%), and wing man and long stick d-middie Victor Belgiorno recorded 10 loose balls. Jared Saperstein and Jack Brown were solid on defense, and Nick Kirincic made 8 saves in goal to secure the win for the Vikings.
