Delaware High School Basketball - Milford thwarts St. Elizabeth
February 7, 2011: Wilmington, DE 19805 The Milford Buccaneers (Milford, DE) basketball felled the host St. Elizabeth Vikings (Wilmington, DE), 65-55 in Monday's non-league test.
The Buccaneers (11-5) will now prepare for their test against Sussex Tech (Georgetown, DE). The Ravens go into the Henlopen - Northern test with a 5-10 record. In their last test, Sussex Tech went down by Caravel (Bear, DE), 55-44, in a non-league test.
The Vikings now own a 11-3 record. They take the field next when they host Archmere Academy for a non-league test on Tuesday, February 8. St. Elizabeth will clash with a Auks squad coming off a 44-43 league loss to Campus Community (Dover, DE). The Auks record now stands at 6-8.
First Quarter
CJ Craft scored 7 points and led a ferocious defense to help the Vikings get out to a 10 point 1st quarter lead.
Second Quarter
With Starters CJ Craft, Matt Modica and Eric Patton in foul trouble and on the bench for the 2nd quarter, Milford behind Alvino Hazzard and Richie McClendon surged to tie the score at half time.
Third Quarter
Despite holding the state's leading scorer to 9 points, the Vikings were unable to contain the Buccaneers who blew out to a 5 point 3rd quarter lead.
Fourth Quarter
Andre Pattons 20 points and 22 rebounds was not enough to allow the Vikings to break into the lead and they ultimately fell to Milford ending their 7 game winning streak.
