Illinois High School Soccer - Glenwood nudges Jacksonville
October 22, 2014: Chatham, IL 62629 Glenwood Titans (Chatham, IL) supporters were pleased Wednesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Jacksonville Crimsons (Jacksonville, IL), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.
The Crimsons now possess a 19-3 record.
Game Summary
Glenwood managed a 1-0 halftime lead after junior Devin Compton scored on a 30-yard free kick. A red card by freshman Henry Rademaker resulted in Glenwood playing down one player for more than 38 minutes in the second half. Rademaker collided with Jacksonville goalkeeper Austin Enz and Enz was kicked in the nose. A bleeding Enz briefly left the field. Against Glenwood last week, Enz was accidentally kicked in the cheek and he left the game in the first half. Glenwood saw its 1-0 lead disappear when Jacksonville senior A.J.Underwood threaded his way through the defense and and scored with 21 ? minutes remaining in the second half. The Crimsons (19-3) made it 2-1 after Nash Oldenettel’s free kick bounced around the goalie box in a scrum of players and deflected off Glenwood goalie Zach Mizera at the 16:01 mark. Glenwood senior Blake Dannehold lofted a goal over Enz’s head and tied it at 2-all with 12:46 left. The Titans scored their final goal on a corner kick with 1:06 left to win 3-2.
