Tennessee High School Basketball - Dickson County nips Kenwood
January 3, 2012: Dickson, TN 37055 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Dickson County Cougars (Dickson, TN) and the visiting Kenwood Knights (Clarksville, TN), saw Dickson County's basketball squad hold off Kenwood by a score of 64-60.
With the victory, Dickson County improves its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Northwest (Clarksville, TN) to battle the Vikings in a AAA District 10 challenge on Friday, January 6. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 0-12. Northwest lost 92-70 in their recent non-league challenge against University Heights (Hopkinsville, KY)
Next up, the Knights battle the Henry County Patriots (Paris, TN) in a AAA District 10 challenge, on Friday, January 6. Kenwood will attempt to improve on its 12-4 season record. The Patriots come into the challenge with a 4-7 record after their 54-49 league loss to Rossview (Clarksville, TN).
Overtime
JeQuan Lewis hit a game-trying 3-point field goal with 30 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime and then scored seven of his team's 10 points in overtime to help lead Dickson County to a 64-60 District 10AAA win over Kenwood.
The Cougars rallied from a 12-point deficit with a minute left in the third period. DCHS outscored the Knights 20-10 in the final period and had to overcome 13-19 second half field goal shooting (68 percent) to move its district record to 6-0 and overall mark to 12-1, the lone loss coming in the championship game of the Panama City Bay High Barnstorm Tournament.
Lewis finished with 29 points and had six assists, six rebounds, and four steals. Cameron Tuck added 10 points.
The Knights were led by DeAndre Lisenbee with 17 points. Maleek Hall scored 14 and Daniel Norl added 11.
