Top 10 Rundown

ÿ

1. Jenks: Defeated Bartlesville, 52-7. Despite committing four first half turnovers, the Trojans raced out to a 35-7 halftime lead and never looked back. Quarterback Mark Ginther threw three touchdown passes to lead the way for Jenks, who is locked in a three-team race for the District 6A-4 title. Jenks, Washington (Tulsa), and Owasso all hold 5-1 records within the district. Jenks defeated Owasso 34-0 Sept. 29 to get a leg-up on the Rams, but lost in triple-overtime to Washington Sept. 22, 43-37. Next week, Owasso hosts Washington in what could decide Jenks' playoff fate. If Owasso wins, Jenks captures the district title. If Washington wins, Jenks will be the second seed out of the district.

ÿ

2. Bixby: Defeated McLain, 52-14. Bixby can make plans for two home playoff games after the rout of McLain earned them the District 5A-3 title. Ramsey Payne, a junior running back, scored three touchdowns while freshman running back Dalton Irvin ran for 100 yards and one score. Bixby raced out to a 14-0 lead after a pair of touchdown runs by Payne, and led 38-0 at intermission.

All-everything star Ryan Broyles had eight carries for 79 yards and a touchdown, and added 103 yards on three receptions in the first half for Norman.

ÿ

5. Sequoyah (Claremore): Defeated Locust Grove, 47-0. Sequoyah continued its streak of not giving up a first-half point as they grounded Locust Grove's passing attack in the rout. Seven different Sequoyah players scored touchdowns. Despite its dominance of District 3A-3, Sequoyah has not clinched the top seed. Next week, they will travel to Vinita in a game that will decide the district title. It appeared that both clubs would be undefeated heading into the contest, that was until Vinita was upset by Berryhill (Tulsa), 28-23.

ÿ

6. Muskogee: Lost to Owasso, 17-14. Muskogee running back Dre' Stout was stopped just before the goal line on fourth down in the second overtime, and Owasso capitalized with a 27-yard field goal by Jason Erickson to give Owasso the upset victory. The Roughers trailed 7-0 until 8:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Rell Lewis hit Jonathon Moore on a 32-yard scoring pass to send the game into overtime.

Heritage Hall's Stevens Ties National Recordÿ

ÿ

Heritage Hall (Oklahoma City) kicker Jimmy Stevens booted his way into history this weekend in a 27-0 victory over Meeker.

ÿ

Stevens, an Oklahoma commit, missed a 39-yard attempt in the fourth quarter in what would have been the record breaker.

ÿ

Stevens will have a Nov. 3 game at home against Bethel (Shawnee) to break the record.ÿ The national record is currently shared by Brian Bond of Hacienda Heights Wilson, Calif., and Tomas Sanchez of Arlington Heights, Texas.

ÿ

Millwood's Jones a Can't-Miss Talent

ÿ

Gerald Jones was at it again Friday night in Millwood's (Oklahoma City) 54-27 win over Wellston. Jones threw for four touchdowns, added a 60-yard touchdown run, and threw in a 65-yard punt return for a score for good measure in the blowout.

ÿ

Jones holds offers from Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Virginia Tech. The Falcons have locked up the District 2A-2 crown. Their only loss of the season was to third-ranked Bishop McGuinness (Oklahoma City), 31-26.ÿ Not bad for a 2A school going up against one of the favorites in Class 4A.
