Game recap

Leading by 30 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop Monte Vista Christian (Watsonville, Calif.) from scoring, as it added 10 points in the final quarter on the way to a 54-14 victory over Berean Christian (Walnut Creek, Calif.) on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown catch by Zander Fischer-Tellez in the first quarter, the Mustangs led 28-14 at the half.

Monte Vista Christian expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. MVC scored three times in the third, including once on a Hugo Renteria touchdown run.

Renteria stood out for the Watsonville school in the win. The senior running back kicked two field goals and four extra points.

The loss comes after Berean Christian defeated Emery 10-8 last week.

Berean Christian (1-2) goes up against Mt. Diablo in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Monte Vista Christian (2-0) locks horns with Gilroy also in a non-conference game.
