Southwestern Michigan - East league recap: 5/7/12
Sturgis went from 122 to 107 in the national rankings since last week after going 0-0 in the past seven days.
Coldwater is now in the midst of a 5-game losing streak. The Cardinals lost another game last week, including a 9-7 defeat against Marshall.
Central's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 31 hits and 23 walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, the Bearcats have allowed just 164 hits, while striking out 68 batters.
Nicholas Cramer leads the Bearcats with 20 strikeouts in 27 innings.
Central, the league leader in stolen bases this season with 80, added to its lead in that category with 15 more steals over the past week.
Eric Evans's 23 steals make him the biggest threat on the basepaths for the Bearcats, which is running wild under the direction of manager Jim Young.
