League recap: Johnsonburg runs winning streak to five

Johnsonburg (5-0, 2-0) is red-hot, having won five straight games, the longest such streak in Allegheny Mountain. One of those wins came in the past week, a 7-6 victory over Port Allegany.

Elk County Catholic made the biggest jump in the Pennsylvania state rankings, moving from 248 to 184 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past week.

Brockway's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only nine hits and seven walks, both of which led the league. The Rovers' pitchers have been charged with only 76 hits and have struck out 47 batters. Evan Hatfield is tops on the staff with 18 Ks.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Philip Esposito, who turned in three Ks for Brockway. He's third in the league with six total strikeouts.
