On Friday, Lafayette put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They steamrollered Saltillo 48-7. That result was just more of the same for Lafayette, who also won the last time these teams played.
Lafayette's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 21 first-half points. Meanwhile, Saltillo couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. Lafayette put the match away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Junior Randy Anderson and senior Lance Stewart were among the main playmakers for Lafayette as the former picked up 104 yards on the ground and accumulated 120 passing yards and the latter rushed for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Quentin James, who racked up 12 tackles. The win bumped Lafayette's record up to 4-2. The loss dropped Saltillo's record to 1-6.
Next week Lafayette take on Lewisburg at 7:00 PM. Lewisburg took a loss in their last contest and are no doubt out to reverse Lafayette's good fortune. As for Saltillo, they will face off against Center Hill. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
