Male added to the longest winning streak in 6A District 4 this week by beating Trinity, 24-14. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
St. Xavier made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 375 from 471. The improvement was largely due to a 24-23 victory over DuPont Manual last week.
The Crimsons' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mason Motley threw for 262 and 2 touchdowns and Jake Rist had 94 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Nero chipped in 77 yards. Matthew Cissell helped DuPont Manual's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 61 yards.
He went 16-30 with 2 interceptions.
Nero was the best running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 77 yards as DuPont Manual fell to the Tigers.
DuPont Manual's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Crimsons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Motley has thrown for 1,491 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while William Blackford has 19 catches for 383 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Oliver Lucas' team and Male. The Crimsons enters the game ranked 10th in the state, while Chris Wolfe's team ranks first.
Two of the top units in 6A District 4 will face off this week when DuPont Manual takes on the Bulldogs. The Crimsons' offense has racked up 216 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Male has allowed only 117 on the year.
