The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Miles (2-8) takes on Menard (8-2) in the first playoff game of the year. Miles has witnessed its point totals drop over the past four games, a trend the team will certainly want to reverse.
Miles went up against Cross Plains last week. Miles's defense took a beating in the first half, giving up 24 points. That put it down 24 - 8. The offense wasn't without blame, either, as it totaled zero points in the second half. The final was a 40 - 8 defeat for Miles.
As for Menard, its encounter with Iraan two weeks ago was a 33-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Menard won a game that couldn't get any closer, slipping by Wink 21 - 20. The contest all came down to a rushing touchdown in the last minute of the game.
We'll see if Menard can add another positive mark to its record or if Miles can shake off its defeat and take the spring out of Menard's step.
