GlenOak (Canton, Ohio)
advantage, which at one point stood at 17 points, dwindled to two before the
final whistle blew on a 26-24 victory over
Washington (Massillon, Ohio)
After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter,
the Golden Eagles led 7-3 at the half.
GlenOak expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. GHS scored
two times in the third, including once on.
The loss came as a surprise for the Tigers, which came into the game ranked No.
22 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Ohio, while the Canton school was
ranked No. 34. Washington came into the game having won three of the past four
games between the two teams.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Golden Eagles's close 22-21 to
WHS last season.
GlenOak is now on a 2-game winning streak, as it beat Firestone 44-7 last
week. The loss comes after Washington defeated Buchtel 52-21 last week. The
loss snapped the Massillon school's 2-game winning streak.
In a non-conference game tilt next week GlenOak (2-1) takes on Euclid, and
Washington (2-1) will go up against Maumee in a non-conference game.
