SPRING BRANCH, Texas - the Rangers scored 28 points in the first quarter to secure a big 49-21 victory over
United (Laredo, Texas) on Saturday.
Smithson Valley scored on a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run, a passing touchdown and a passing touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, SV led 42-7 at the half.
The Rangers raced to 28 in the first quarter alone and kept up the pace for the win.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Rangers came away with a 42-13 victory.
The loss comes after United defeated Southwest 42-14 last week.
Smithson Valley (2-0) will play a non-conference game against Montwood next week, while United (1-1) will take on MacArthur also in a non-conference game.
