Yorktown are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Somerville on Friday at 7:30 PM. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Everything went Yorktown's way against Runge last Friday as they made off with a 52-19 win. With Yorktown ahead 38-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Meanwhile, after having lost a blowout to Iola in their previous matchup, Somerville were happy to find some success. Somerville blew past Texas Wind 27-0. Somerville were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped Somerville to 1-1 and Yorktown to 2-0. In their victory, Yorktown relied heavily on senior Dylan Sinast, who rushed for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns; a key strategy for Somerville will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
