Southwestern recap Nov. 7, 2012
Vista Murrieta extended the longest winning streak in Southwestern this week by beating Chaparral, 38-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Broncos.
Murrieta Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Temecula Valley.
Vista Murrieta's dynamic duo of Nick Stevens and Su'a Cravens proved tough for the Pumas to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stevens threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns and Cravens had 128 yards receiving. Colin Baker helped Vista Murrieta's passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
Jakob Certeza was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 253 yards on 27 carries as Great Oak defeated Chaparral. Carson Luna also contributed to the rushing game with 69 yards on the ground.
Murrieta Mesa's Chase Chambers and Khalil Sharpe have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Southwestern in both passing and receiving yards. Chambers has thrown for 2037 yards this season, while Sharpe, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 75 catches for 829 yards. Ryan Tukua's team's Justin Harris leads the league in rushing yards with 1379.
