Merced were the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They put a hurting on Central Valley to the tune of 52-6. Followers of Merced probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Merced started the match off right with 45 first-half points. Meanwhile, Central Valley couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 45-0 heading into the break. The Merced defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 6 and all but finishing the game. The win bumped their record up to 5-0. The loss dropped Central Valley's record to 1-4.
Next week Merced take on El Capitan at Merced High School at 7:00 PM. El Capitan will need to watch out since Merced have now posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Central Valley, they will face off against Atwater.
