3A Region I District 2 recap October 29, 2013
Shallowater extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region I District 2 this week by beating Andrews, 35-6. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Cooper moved up to 283 from 311 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of beating Levelland 17-10.
Estacado's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jalen Tennison threw for 73 yards and Brian Roberts had 27 yards receiving. On the ground Robert Johnson contributed 175 yards. Chris Anderson helped Estacado's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 26 yards.

The Mustangs' Shane Dolgener and Coy Lopez have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Dolgener has thrown for 1,238 yards this season, while Lopez has 38 catches for 524 yards. Estacado's Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,728.
The top two teams in 3A Region I District 2 will face off this week when first place Shallowater takes on second place Cooper.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Andrews' Lopez goes up against Danny Servance's team's D'ante Willard.
Next week's game between Ralph Mason's team and the Matadors will feature a good passing match up as Dolgener will test his arm against Willard's defensive ability.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Mustangs and Estacado face off next week.
There should be lots of points scored when Andrews and the Matadors face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Mustangs comes in having scored 250 this season, while Estacado has scored 226. Andrews scored 6 points last week as it lost to Shallowater.
