Leflore County won the last time they faced South Delta, and things went their way on Friday, too. Leflore County narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Delta 50-48. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
South Delta's loss came about despite a quality game from junior Adrain Warfield, who rushed for 323 yards and 5 touchdowns. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Howard Barfield, who racked up 11 tackles.
The victory bumped Leflore County's record up to 1-2. The loss dropped South Delta back to even at 1-1.
Next week, Leflore County take on Humphreys County at LEFLORE COUNTY HS at 7:00 PM. Humphreys County had less luck in their last game and are out to reverse Leflore County's good fortune. South Delta will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Jefferson County at SOUTH DELTA HS at 7:00 PM.
