MaxPrep representative Jerry Howard, Army National Guard SPC Mark Curran and Master Sergeant David Aragon presented Highlands Ranch Girls Basketball Coach Caryn Jarocki with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions National Ranking trophy.
Excitement was high in the packed auditorium, as Jerry Howard recapped the teams amazing season. Lead by coach Jarocki, the team entered the state semifinals with 16 consecutive wins and went on to defeat Regis Jesuit High School 59-54, on March 13. Their victory in the action packed game yielded the teams 3rd consecutive 5A State Championship title and Highlands Ranch’s 2nd 3peat this decade. Top players Jade Davis, Alyssa Fressle and Taylor Johnson went on to take part in the Colorado All-Star Women’s Basketball Game and Coach Jarocki was named Colorado Coach of the Year.
After making note of the teams impressive 6th in the nation ranking by MaxPreps, Jerry handed the podium over to Master Sergeant Aragon of the Colorado Army National Guard. Enthusiastically stating “The National Guard is proud to present this trophy, doing so in recognition of excellence and teamwork in the community”, MSG Aragon was met with loud applause from the crowd. He further stated, “..just as the National Guard demonstrates excellence in their community and nation through teamwork, so too does the girls basketball team also demonstrate excellence on behalf of the Highlands Ranch High School.” Amidst a loud roar from the crowd, Spc. Mark Curran handed the trophy to Coach Jarocki who proudly held it high above her head. After, Athletic Director, Janelle Peters, thanked the National Guard and MaxPrep for their recognition.
