Henlopen - Southern recap September 24, 2013
Woodbridge's Logan Wescott recorded the longest rushing play in Henlopen - Southern this season in his game against Wilmington Friends last week. Wescott's team topped the Quakers as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 87 in all.
Lake Forest led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on Brandywine.
Wescott was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Ricky Rayford added to the ground attack by rushing for 62 yards.
Wescott put up the best numbers in passing as Woodbridge bested Wilmington Friends. He had a total of 10 completions for 189 yards. Wescott's favorite target this week was Anthony Jefferson, who caught 5 passes for 84 yards.
Jarrett Johnson was the best wideout in Henlopen - Southern this week as Laurel lost to Smyrna. Johnson racked up 5 receptions for 130 yards. Reggie Green helped Laurel's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 17 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Wescott of Ed Manlove's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 363. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Johnson. The Laurel star has 10 catches for 296 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Delmar and the Spartans. The Wildcats enters the game ranked eighth in the state, while Lake Forest ranks 14th.
The Raiders' offense has scored 62 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Seaford has allowed only 42 on the year.
The Bluejays made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,341 from 12,149. The improvement came about via a 42-0 victory over Seaford last week.
