This Friday at 7:30 PM, Rouse (4-5) faces Bastrop (2-7). Rouse has a win under its belt but has never won back-to-back; of course, Bastrop will be hoping to keep it that way.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between Rouse and Elgin last week. Rouse claimed a 33 - 21 victory over Elgin last week. The high-scoring offensive effort was a definite turnaround from Rouse's flat performance last game.
As for Bastrop, victory was within reach last week, but it ultimately lost 34 - 27 to East View. Sophomore Tyrin Smith didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 16 tackles.
The last time they met, Rouse got away with a 42 - 35 win over Bastrop. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rouse since the team will be on Bastrop's home field this time. We'll soon find out whether that makes a difference or not.
