If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Oak Grove. They hope to keep the momentum going despite having enjoyed some extra time before their next match against Westmont at 7:00 PM on Thursday. Oak Grove will be strutting in after a win while Westmont will be stumbling in from a loss.
Their game three weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Oak Grove, but their most recent matchup may have softened the blow. Two weeks ago, they secured a 32-26 W over Oakland Tech. No one put up better numbers for Oak Grove than senior Isaiah Fernandez, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 132 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, Westmont might have drawn first blood against Del Mar, but it was Del Mar who got the last laugh. Westmont ended up on the wrong side of a painful 3-35 walloping at Del Mar's hands. Westmont were down by 3-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Westmont's defeat took them down to 1-3 while Oak Grove's victory pulled them up to 2-2. The Oak Grove defense got after the quarterback against Oakland Tech to the tune of 7.0 sacks, so Westmont's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the game.
