MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Clarksville (Clarksville, Tenn.) have officially been named to the 12th Annual MaxPreps Soccer Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its sixth year honoring girls soccer.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the
MaxPreps National Rankings. For soccer, only 20 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 34,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Wildcats ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, head coach Jeff Jordan and the Lady Wildcats captured their second
TSSAA Class AAA state title in their third straight state championship appearance at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex. Freshman Destiny Hill's first half goal, backed by an impressive performance by goalkeeper Ann-Heidi Utsi and the Wildcats' defense, led the team to a close 1-0 shutout win.
Clarksville rallied for 16-consecultive wins after an early-season loss (1-0) to Franklin and avenged its loss with a stunning 1-0 state final victory which marked the completion of an incredible 23-3-1 season. The Lady Wildcats finished ranked No. 3 in Tennessee and are currently ranked in the top 20 in the MaxPreps National Rankings.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Clarksville Wildcats an invitation to the 12th Annual Tour of Champions. This will be the second time the Lady Wildcats are honored by MaxPreps and the National Guard as they were also named to the 2014-15 Soccer Tour.
Please join us as we celebrate with the girls soccer team, coaching staff, students and fans on Friday, Dec. 9 during halftime of the girls basketball game which starts at 6 p.m. in the gym.
