MaxPreps Nebraska Player of the Week: Jon Lawler- Oakland-Craig
Lawler broke out in a big way for Oakland-Craig in a 48-27 victory over Lutheran Northeast. Lawler rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns as the Knights moved to 3-1 on the campaign. With Lawler, the team from Burt County is a sleeper in the Class C-2 race.
Eric Koehlmoos- Pierce: Koehlmoos, an All-State selection last season, threw for 141 yards and rushed for 162 in a 48-14 rout of Wayne. Koehlmoos rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more for the Bluejays.
Durron Wayne- Fillmore Central: Wayne rushed for 266 yards and a touchdown as Fillmore Central downed Milford 34-13 to pick up its first victory of the season.
John Dostal- Omaha Gross: Dostal only threw four passes in a 55-0 victory over Elkhorn Mount Michael. Dostal completed all four passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cougars.
Troy Williams and Kyle McLaughlin- Auburn: Williams hauled in seven passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns, while McLaughlin had 137 receiving yards and two scores as Auburn defeated Conestoga, 48-0.
Michael Burrus- Papillion-LaVista South: Burrus, the leading rusher in Class A, rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-0 victory over Omaha South.

1. Omaha Westside (5-0) 1
Defeated Papillion-LaVista, 46-0. Collins Okafor rushed for 180 yards, including an 80-yard run, as the Warriors posted their third shutout of the season. Tim Biere, a Kansas commit, had 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Warriors.
2. Kearney (5-0) 2
Defeated Lincoln North Star, 45-14. Rustin Dring made the most of his 12 carries, rushing for 99 yards and three touchdowns as Kearney won its 16th consecutive game. Quarterback Zack Follmer was 11-of-12 passing for 175 yards and a touchdown. Drew Tickle returned an interception and a punt for a score to add insult to injury for the Navigators.
3. Omaha Central (5-0) 3
Defeated Millard West, 42-30. The Eagles overcame a 24-14 deficit en route to the victory over Nebraska's hottest large-school team. Quarterback Chris Griffin threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns and added a 16-yard run in a pivotal third quarter for Central.
4. Bellevue West (5-0) 7
Defeated Millard South, 28-22. Junior quarterback Tyler Seals threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Thunderbirds to the victory. Greg Hardin caught nine passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Bellevue West, which remained unbeaten.
5. Millard West (4-1) 4
Lost to Omaha Central, 42-30. Raced out to a 24-14 lead before being victimized by a furious Omaha Central comeback. Tyler Davis rushed for 73 yards and converted a halfback pass for a touchdown. Jake Drwal hauled in two touchdown receptions in a losing effort.
6. Millard South (3-2) 5
Lost to Bellevue West, 28-22. Sophomore quarterback Bronson Marsh threw for 238 yards in a losing effort for the Patriots. Jordan Hale rushed for two touchdowns for Millard South.
7. Millard North (3-2) 6
Defeated Bellevue East, 42-7. Quarterback Nick Failla rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Mustangs to the easy victory. Sean Fisher, a Nebraska commit, added 92 yards and two touchdowns.
8. Lincoln East (4-1) 8
Defeated Columbus, 21-9. Harry Meginnis rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Spartans over a pesky Columbus team. Matt Palm added 127 yards on the ground for the only capitol city team left in the Class A top ten.
9. Grand Island (4-1) 9
Defeated Fremont, 42-0. The Islanders sprinted out to a 42-0 lead against the hapless Tigers and never looked back. Grand Island picked off Fremont quarterback Evan Harpster three times in the victory and had two defensive touchdowns in the victory.
10. Omaha North (3-2) 10
Defeated Omaha Northwest, 52-7. The Vikings rushed for 311 yards in the victory over Northwest. Brian Giles rushed for 112 yards and three first quarter touchdowns to lead the rout.

Class A Quick Hits
How do you keep a 4-1 Papillion-LaVista team out of the top ten? With Michael Burrus running on all cylinders, the Titans will be a tough squad as they head into October. Burrus is just 49 yards short of the magical 1,000-yard plateau with four regular season games to go.
Lincoln Southwest only attempted two passes in a 28-14 victory over Norfolk
. Brandon Brown rushed for 202 yards, while sophomore quarterback Rylan Cotton added 167 yards rushing for the Silver Hawks.

1. McCook (4-0) 1
Defeated Gering, 35-13. McCook's Zach Wieser rushed for 169 yards to lead the way. Chris Schleeman and Matt Berry both scored two touchdowns for the Bison.
2. Crete (4-0) 2
Defeated Grand Island Northwest, 40-0. Quarterback John Leverson ran for an 82-yard touchdown in the second quarter to spearhead the Cardinal blowout. Leverson rushed for 103 yards in the victory.
3. Omaha Skutt (4-0) 3
Defeated Waverly, 36-14. Skutt got an impressive victory over previously-unbeaten Waverly thanks to 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Noel Wagner.
4. Elkhorn (4-0) 4
Defeated Plattsmouth, 30-13.
5. Omaha Gross (4-0) 5
Defeated Elkhorn Mount Michael, 55-0. Cougar signal caller John Dostal completed all four of his passing attempts for 175 yards and three touchdowns to lead Omaha Gross in the rout.
6. Beatrice (3-1) 6
Defeated Aurora, 24-14. The Orangemen roared back from a 14-7 deficit entering the final quarter by erupting for 17 fourth quarter points en route to the victory. Nick Bell rushed for a 30-yard touchdown and kicked a 22-yard field goal in the final stanza for Beatrice.
7. Norris (4-0) 9
Defeated Fairbury, 29-13. Tyler Anderson rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown as the Titans held off Fairbury. Garrett Sawyer rushed for two touchdowns to pace Norris.
8. Hastings (3-1) NR
Defeated Lincoln Pius X, 14-9. The Tigers raced out to a 14-0 lead thanks to an 80-yard passing touchdown from Tyler Frank to Nile Schneider.
9. Waverly (3-1) 8
Lost to Omaha Skutt, 36-14. Andrew Bundy was one of the few bright spots for Waverly in the loss, rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown.
10. Fairbury (4-1) 7
Lost to Norris, 29-13. Junior quarterback Lee Horky threw for 90 yards below his season-average of 270 as the Jeffs fell for the first time this season.

Watch out for Elmwood-Murdock. Since its season-opening defeat to third-ranked Bergan, Elmwood-Murdock has outscored its four opponents 214-0. Oddly enough after a 55-0 drubbing of Malcolm on Friday night, it was the third consecutive week winning 55-0.
