AAA Region 1 recap October 8, 2013
Southeast Bulloch extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 1 this week by beating Savannah, 30-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Pierce County lost to Appling County 38-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
5-foot-6 quarterback Raquan Green of Johnson is the league leader in passing yards this season with 583. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jermaine Williams. The Savannah star has 15 catches for 233 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Southeast Bulloch takes on second place Pierce County.
Next week's game between the Atomsmashers and the Bluejackets will feature an aerial matchup as Green tests his arm against Trey Dillard's defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when Johnson and Savannah face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Thomas Tedder's team comes in having scored 67 this season, while Tim Jordan's team has scored 53.
Southeast Bulloch made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,633 from 7,256. The advance stemmed from a 30-14 victory over the Bluejackets last week.
