MaxPreps.com Staff Report
What to Watch For: A week ago, 10 teams in the MaxPreps Top 25 faced unbeaten or one-loss teams. This week's slate is a polar opposite, with 11 winless or one-win teams matching up against the nation's elite.
That could result in a few lopsided scores Friday and Saturday night, but the weekend isn't devoid of high-profile showdowns.
No. 2 De La Salle, Calif., will look to avenge a 36-26 loss to Mission Viejo a year ago Saturday night in an ESPNU-televised game. The Spartans, winners of 12-straight since the loss to Bob Johnson's Diablos in 2005, could be on the fast track to another unbeaten season with a win in this contest.
La Salle, Ohio, enters its game against No. 6 St. Xavier with three losses, but those have come against Northmont, Cincinnati Elder, and Archbishop Moeller, three strong Buckeye State programs. It could be a "landmine" contest for the Bombers with No. 18 St. Ignatius up next on the schedule.
In Wisconsin, No. 15 Menomonie is looking for its fifth-straight shutout. That won't be easy to achieve as the Indians face 5-1 Chippewa Falls on the road.
No. 17 Mater Dei, Calif., already has a win in the books this week, beating Loara 48-6 Thursday night.
