FRANKLIN, Pa. - Even though
Meadville (Pa.) couldn't stop
Franklin (Pa.), it did manage to squeak out the 36-34 victory.
After taking the lead on a two-point conversion in the first quarter, the Bulldogs were up 22-14 at the half.
Meadville expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Tanner Frye touchdown pass to
Alec Lloyd.
The Bulldogs were ahead by as much as 15 before the Knights pulled closer.
A 56-7 Meadville victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for MHS, which was coming off a 42-13 defeat at the hands of Oil City in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Franklin, which notched a 44-0 victory over Bradford in its previous outing. The victory snapped Meadville's three-game losing streak.
Franklin (2-5) goes up against Slippery Rock in a District 10 Region 5 AAA game matchup next week, while Meadville (2-5) locks horns with Bradford also in a District 10 Region 5 AAA game.
