Class 4A Recap - Wagoner Sets Up Showdown with McGuinness

Junior quarterback Durrell Parker rushed for 75 yards on 13 carries, while Gus Jones added 69 yards and three scores to give Wagoner a 42-7 victory over Elk City.

A three-yard touchdown run by Parker followed by an 11-yard scamper by Jones gave Wagoner a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter. Elk City countered when quarterback Tyler Newman hit running back Justin Ezell on a 28-yard scoring strike to shave the deficit to six points.

Everett Shaver returned the ensuing kickoff 58-yards to the Elk City 32. Parker capped off the drive with his second 3-yard scoring run on the evening. The two-point conversion gave Wagoner a comfortable 21-7 halftime advantage.

Grove Outlasts Glenpool in Shootout
ÿ
Grove outscored Glenpool 21-15 in the fourth quarter to complete a 35-29 victory, moving to a semifinal contest against Poteau.

Glenpool raced out to a 14-0 lead led by Mike Wright, who scored the first of his three touchdown runs from 5-yards out in the first quarter. Grove roared back, using a special teams play to get back into the fray. Corey Davenport, who replaced starting quarterback Darius Hopper after an early injury, recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to put Grove on the board.

Davenport scored from one-yard to tie the game at 14 heading into the final quarter.
Wright scored from 12-yards and added a two-point conversion to put the Warriors back in front at 22-14. Grove's Colton Gehrke responded, racing 39 yards for a touchdown. Grove's two-point conversion failed, making the count 22-20.

Davenport put Grove in front for good when he struck an a 64-yard touchdown pass to George Maymi. Davenport hit Gehrke on the two-point play to make the score 28-22 in favor of the RidgeRunners. Gehrke scored again from 4-yards to put Grove seemingly ahead for good at 35-22.

Wright scored his third touchdown with 53 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 35-29. Glenpool recovered the onside kick, but only gained 10-yards before time ran out, giving Grove the hard-fought victory.

Poteau Works Overtime Again, Beats McLoud
ÿ
For the second-straight week, 48 minutes of football wasn't enough for Poteau. The Pirates got a five-yard touchdown run in the extra session from Tim Branch to take a 35-28 decision over McLoud.

In the first round, Poteau needed three overtimes to defeat Oologah, 50-49.
ÿ
Chris McCoy rushed for three touchdowns and started the scoring by finding Adam Roll on a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

McLoud scored 14-unanswered points on two one-yard scoring plunges by Cody Phipps.
ÿ
Poteau scored all 14 points in the third quarter as McCoy scored two touchdowns ground. McLoud responded through the air, as Jason Bowen tossed scoring strikes from 45 and 44-yards to give McLoud the lead. Bowen threw for 297 yards on the evening.

McCoy sent the game into overtime with a 5-yard run to make the score 28-28.

ÿ
Sequoyah (Claremore) defeated three-time defending Class 4A champion Clinton, 15-6, to move to the Class 3A semifinals.

Sequoyah scored on their first possession after driving 61 yards in seven plays, capped off when quarterback Blake Bershears hit Levi Richardson from 23 yards to give the Eagles the early lead.

The game went scoreless until the fourth quarter when the Eagles picked up a safety and a two-yard touchdown run by Corey Park. The Red Tornadoes tried to claw back when Tanner Jones hauled in a 12-yard pass from Clinton quarterback Baer Aneshanley, but it wasn't enough.

Kingfisher Bombs Seminole, 40-6
ÿ
Kingfisher quarterback Phillip Parcell completed 5-of-7 passes for 192 yards to lead the Yellow Jackets to a rout of Seminole, 40-6.

Parcell connected with receiver Cale Myers on an 80-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to put Kingfisher in front, 27-0. Parcell also rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Marlow Downs Locust Grove

Marlow sprinted out to a 12-0 lead in the first half and used a 22-yard fourth quarter interception return for a score by Craig Jameson to hold off Locust Grove, 25-10.

Marlow quarterback Garrett Brown ran for a touchdown and threw a three-yard scoring pass to Chris Waldon to lead the Outlaws to the 12-0 advantage. Locust Grove fought back, led by freshman quarterback Beau Marslan. Marslan found Josh Collins on a 12-yard touchdown pass, and Bubba Estes added a 20-yard field goal to bring Locust Grove back within two points at half, 12-10.

Waldon added his second touchdown of the night on a four-yard run to extend the lead to 18-10.

Hugo Locks Up Semifinal Berth Over Purcell
ÿ
Hugo superstar running back Derrick Locke had a rough evening gaining just 94 yards rushing on 37 carries, but Hugo's defense more than made up for it in a 13-9 victory over Purcell.
ÿ
Locke had been averaging over 266 yards per contest heading into the quarterfinal. Despite only 94 yards, Locke eclipsed 3,000 rushing yards on the season.
ÿ
Hugo's Jordan Smith tossed two touchdowns to lead the way for Hugo. Hugo's defense held Purcell to 125 total yards. Stanley Brown managed a 25-yard touchdown run for Purcell in the third quarter.
