Sedgwick County and West Grand are battling to keep their seasons alive when they face off in a playoff match this Saturday at 1:00 PM. Sedgwick County has flexed its offensive muscles in its last nine matchups, so West Grand has a real workout ahead of it.
Sedgwick County has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling ten) after its most recent game. It blew past Holly last week 41 - 8. With four TDs, junior Layne Green was a significant factor in the success. Green has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Grand kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It took its game last week by a score of 38 - 28. Two standouts for it were junior Luis Dominguez and senior Brady Gore; the former ran for 157 yards and also punched in three touchdowns while the latter rushed for 137 yards and threw for two touchdowns. Dominguez should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for West Grand in the past nine games. Senior Jake Bentler was in the mix too, providing West Grand with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped West Grand to 12-0 and Sedgwick County to 11-0. These are two of the top teams in the nation (Sedgwick County is ranked 108th, West Grand 168th), so it should shape up to be an exciting match.
