On Monday evening, January 29th the Webb City Cardinals football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event went down at the halftime of the Boys varsity basketball game. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Chris Brethel, making his 13th and final Tour of Champions stop in a little over three weeks. With the team and coaches standing in front an extremely enthusiastic crowd, it was announced that Webb City was one of the top ranked teams in the nation, placing number 32 in America. SSG Tony Dickens of the Missouri Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach John Roderique with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions national rankings trophy.
What blew us away about Webb City High School was their affinity for MaxPreps. From middle school students to senior citizens, everyone seemed to follow MaxPreps, and subsequently, the Tour of Champions. When honoring schools such as Webb City, it truly makes for a special experience. We look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Cardinals this fall!
