It is Sunday, and not much happened today. We did our laundry, filled our fluids, and drove to Philadelphia. This journal entry is not going to focus on the boring day to day stuff, but it will be about the Madden game that went on last night.
It was about 7pm when a young man by the name of Jon Ray showed up at our door in search of a little friendly Madden game. His story was that he has owned an XBOX 360 since its release date, and Madden is his game of choice. You all know that Madden is our game of choice as well, so we brought the little chap in and gave him the opportunity to play Mike. The little buckaroo put up a nasty fight, going up 14-13 in the second quarter, but by half time the tide had changed. Stamina problems with his players kicked in, and Johnny Ray Cyrus' Seahawks went into their locker room down 34-14.
After an emotional halftime speech given to both teams by their respected coaches, the second half was on its way. The quick synopsis of the second half is this, and it isn't pretty. Mike outscored JR, hopefully that is all right calling you JR, 51-7 in the second half, and won the game by a final score of 95-21. It was a flurry of interceptions and long touchdown passes by Mike. On the other hand, Jonnies play calling was worse than my singing, and his defense was, well I don't really want to dive into how bad it was.
The lessoned to be learned from this is that Jon-O is just not that good at Madden. I don't want to be too mean, so I will have to say that the other lesson to be learned is that hard work and dedication in anything one does will turn them into a winner. Mike's long hours playing tough competition, coupled with multiple practice sessions turned him into the player he is today. Jon "Sugar" Ray took the defeat like a man, shook Mike's hand, and did the walk of shame all the way back to his cozy Hampton Inn suit.
We lay our heads now in an Ikea parking lot outside the city of "Brotherly Love." Tomorrow we will run up the famous steps, see the Liberty bell, and head off to New Jersey. There we will see Don Bosco Prep versus Bergen Catholic. These two teams aren't very fond of each other, making for another heated rivalry game on the MaxPreps.com USA Football Tour.
Question of the Day:
When should a coach call off the dogs?
