The Jackson (Mill Creek)
volleyball team derailed the state's volleyball dynasty and proved it was the best in the state.
The Timberwolves knocked off Mead of Spokane, which has won six of the previous seven Class 4A state titles, in the state semifinals. Jackson, which won only four matches two years ago, then swept Issaquah 3-0 in the finals for the championship. Tournament MVP Leigh-Ann Haataja had 11 kills, four blocks and three aces in the final. In the Class 3A title match, Seattle Prep
, which won three straight state titles from 2001-03, returned to the championship ranks by beating Metro League foe Eastside Catholic 3-1. Senior Gabby Bird-Vogel had 21 kills in the championship match and earned tournament MVP honors for the Panthers.PRAIRIE BOUNCES KENNEDY CATHOLIC GIRLS SOCCER
Kennedy Catholic had only lost one
game this season, and that was to Skyline, the nation's No. 1 team.

the Burien team in the Class 3A state quarterfinals. The state

Katie Kinnear won the 50-yard
freestyle and repeated as the 100 butterfly champ plus she anchored two winning
relays to help Skyline (Sammamish)
repeat as Class 4A state swimming and diving
champ. Grace Wold won the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly to help Mercer Island
