Taft and Churchill are both heading into their Saturday contest this week after losing their previous games. Churchill has to be hurting after the devastating 45 - 14 defeat at the hands of O'Connor last game. Meanwhile, Taft received a tough blow as it fell 40 - 24 to Wagner.
Churchill's game ended as predicted: O'Connor is ranked 28th in the state, many spots ahead of Churchill. The loss came about despite the benefit of 174 receiving yards from senior wide receiver Malik Fletcher. The defeat dropped Churchill's record to 1-1.
Taft put on a good show in the second half of its contest (the squad netted 17 points), but after a slow start in the first it just wasn't enough. Senior Ricky Galindo didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 22 tackles. The defeat brought Taft down to 0-2.
We'll find out which team manages to turn its luck around when they battle it out this week.
