St. Paul's (4-3) and Slidell (5-2) are set to face off this Friday at 7:00 PM. This could be a nice opportunity for Slidell as St. Paul's has a 2-3 record at home.
A win looked likely for St. Paul's given its edge in the state rankings, but it did even better than expected last week. It dominated last week, steamrollering Ponchatoula 63 - 21. Senior Corey Williamson was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive five times.
Meanwhile, it has taken seven games to get there, but Slidell has finally bested an opponent on the road. It got a somewhat close 23 - 17 victory over Mandeville last week. Junior Tito Simmons deserves a lot of the credit as he ran for 201 yards and also punched in one touchdown. This sound performance was nothing new for Simmons, who has been a rock for Slidell in the past six games. Additional support came from senior Bryce Carroll, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 16 tackles.
The last time they met, St. Paul's was the 48 - 14 victor. Will it come out on top again? We'll soon find out.
