Centennial got a 42 - 37 win over Liberty last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Zidane Thomas. Thomas earned three touchdowns and 278 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Thomas as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Perry (2nd in the power rankings) and Mountain Pointe (3rd). Perry blew past Mountain Pointe 56 - 31. One of the main ringleaders for Perry was senior Brock Purdy, who tossed the ball for 397 yards and four TDs.
Look Out Below
Sunrise Mountain fell 223 yards shy of Salpointe Catholic in their game last week, so the final result shouldn't be a surprise. Sunrise Mountain has to be hurting after a devastating 49 - 27 defeat at the hands of Salpointe Catholic. The quarterback felt the loss most of all -- literally. After five sacks, he is probably hoping to get a little more protection in the future. The rough outing dragged Sunrise Mountain down five positions in the power rankings -- the largest fall of the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (13 consecutive games). Notre Dame Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Cienega, sneaking past 37 - 34. The win raised Notre Dame Prep up three spots in the power rankings.
