There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Folsom's senior Kaiden Bennett, an offensive menace who scored eight total TDs.
Monterey Trail managed to bank 257 more yards than its opponent Cosumnes Oaks last week, and going the extra distance paid off. Everything went Monterey Trail's way against Cosumnes Oaks as it secured a 63 - 28 win. One major factor in the victory was the play of senior Zach Larrier, who rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns. The win also thrust Monterey Trail into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 23rd spot.
Can't Touch This
Central got a 62 - 0 win over Paso Robles last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Trent Tompkins. Tompkins threw for 336 yards and eight touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Tompkins as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Folsom (5th in the power rankings) and Chaminade (15th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Folsom put the hurt on Chaminade with a conclusive 70 - 34 victory. Senior Kaiden Bennett deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 346 yards and six TDs.
