Today was a media bonanza. We interviewed all 6 coaches whose respective teams were selected to compete in this weekend's championship games. It was an incredible sight to have all these amazing coaches in the same room together. Many high school coaches would love just to listen to Coach Ladouceur of De La Salle, who leads the mythical Spartans from Concord, but to then top it off with 5 other highly respected coaches was amazing. Every single coach was honored to be a part of this Saturday's event, which will be the biggest stage most of these programs have ever played in.
As we talked with each coach it became apparent that this week is going to be anything but routine for each program. Football programs are reliant on schedules and consistency, but this week will throw all that out the window. The coaches will have their work cut out for them as they try to get their players physically and mentally prepared for the biggest game any have ever played in. The northern teams will actually be flown down a day early, adding another kink in the week's schedule for the coaches. With the games being played in the heart of Southern California, the Home Depot Center is going to feel like a home game for the three teams from the southern half of California. However, with all teams having to come out as section champions, you can bet that each program will be ready to roll at kickoff time. This week is setting up to be a memorable and fitting season finale for the Road Tour and I can't think of a better way to end this trip of a lifetime.
