On Wednesday morning, January 17th the John Curtis Patriots football team was honored by the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard.
The event took place during a pep rally in the high school gymnasium. Kicking off the ceremony was MaxPreps representative Peter J. De Rogatis. As the entire student body looked on, it was announced that John Curtis Christian was one of the top ranked teams in the nation, placing number 16 in America. SSG George Clarke of the Louisiana Army National Guard addressed the crowd and took the honors in presenting Head Coach J.T. Curtis with the MaxPreps Tour of Champions national rankings trophy.
Although this was the first time John Curtis has been awarded the Tour Of Champions, they are not strangers to outstanding success in high school football. The 2006 football season resulted in the 21st state championship for the Patriots in an unprecedented 35 years. John Curtis Christian, a high school of fewer than 400 students, has set the bar for consistency and elite high school football in Louisiana and in the United States. Congratulations once again, and we look forward to the possibility of honoring the team again in '08. Best of luck to the Patriots this fall!
