Players to watch: WR Cedric Gilbert (6-3, 200, 4.6), LB Trey Brown (6-0, 210, 4.6), DE Lance Skylar (6-2, 235, 4.8), DB Brandon Baker (6-2, 185, 4.5), OT Josh Robinson (6-4, 280, 5.2).
Top sophomores: TB Clayton Chadwick.
2010 notes: Much of Lancaster's struggles in '09 can be credited to fielding a young team. That means a much more experienced bunch this year, though one graduated senior, Thedford Rhodes, was a longtime starter at QB, so that's one hole to fill. Someone must step up quickly, because WR Gilbert (23-285, 3 TDs) is poised for a breakout season. Like Gilbert, who has attracted a few college offers, coach Jackson said OT Robinson "will play at the next level." The defense will count on two veterans - four-year starter LB Brown and four-year lettermen DE Skylar. Meanwhile, Lancaster's been a DB factory in recent years. Tyler Stephenson and Quintin Hayes played DB last year, and the season before, Lancaster sent four DBs to FBS programs. It might be DB Baker's time this fall - he has that potential, too.
