state title contest, the 14-1 Bulldogs claimed North Gwinnett's first state football championship and earned the No. 22 ranking in MaxPreps' National Rankings
! One of just 50 football programs being honored on the 2017-18 Tour of Champions, the Bulldogs dropped a 31-28 season-opening decision to Walton before reeling off 14 straight wins.

SGT Sullivan also talked about leadership, excellence and perseverance, shared character traits of a state championship football team and the soldiers of the Army National Guard.
SGT Sullivan then presented the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy to first-year head coach Bill Stewart to the loud cheers of the packed gymnasium. To top off an already special evening, each player, coach, cheerleader and school administrator received a state championship ring to commemorate North Gwinnett football's historic season.
