Kentwood star running back Demetrious Bronson has decided to play close to home.
Bronson, who rushed for 1,438 yards and 14 touchdowns last season for the Conquerors, has committed to play for the University of Washington, according to the recruiting Web site RealDawg.com.
"They're the local school, close to home, they're on the rise and there's a lot of buzz about them right now. I really want anopportunity to compete, too, so Washington is the best place for me," Bronson told the site.
Bronson is 5-foot-11 and over 200 pounds.
"He's a good role model with a great work ethic and agreat team player," Kentwood coach Rex Norris told the Tacoma News Tribune. "He's nothing but humble. And that can be hard to find in a kid with his talent. I couldn't think of a better kid with that type of talent to work with."
Bronson comes from a talented family. His older brother John played at Penn State and is now in his third year with the Arizona Cardinals. His sister Leitawsha played basketball at Morgan State.

Basketball: Rainier Beach Gets Even Stronger
Rainier Beach, already one of the top basketball programs in the state year after year after year, got stronger recently by adding a pair of transfers.
Garfield's leading scorer Aaron Dotson (a 6-3 guard who averaged 18.6 points per game) and Chief Sealth's top returning player Nyandigisi "Digs" Moikobu (a 6-5 player who averaged 9.8 points and 6.0 rebounds) are becoming Vikings.
Open enrollment is the rule in Seattle and that can be frustrating for several coaches.
"It's turning into NBA-like free agency where kids jump and leave when they think the grass is a little bit greener," Chief Sealth coach Colin Slingsby told the Seattle Times.
