The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Jefferson takes on Farmersville in the first playoff game of the year. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (446 for Jefferson and 506 for Farmersville), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
Jefferson kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It took its game last week by a score of 47 - 37. Sophomore Dee Black didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 272 yards and punched in one touchdown. Black supplied the game with one of its most unforgettable moments, a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Farmersville can now show off four landslide victories after its most recent game. It blew past Grand Saline last week 56 - 31. Senior Cade Twyford was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive five times. This also marked the 3rd consecutive game in which Twyford rushed for 100+ yards.
Their wins bumped Jefferson to 9-1 and Farmersville to 7-3. With big points in their last games, don't be surprised if the score for this one stands out.
