With the season entering its final stages, and numerous state championships taking place all over the country, there are a lot of new faces in this week's MaxPreps/National Guard Top 100.
But there are also some familiar ones, particularly at the top where Texas juggernaut Southlake Carroll finds itself once again.
The Dragons crushed Odessa Permian, 42-6, over the weekend and will face Colleyville Heritage in the 5A Division I quarterfinal round Saturday.
Wheaton-Warrenville South, Ill., Blue Springs South, Mo., and Warren Central, Ind. (No. 2, 4, and 5, respectively) seem to be entrenched in the top five with their seasons complete, while No. 3 Jesuit still has one more chance to make a statement in Oregon's 6A title game at the University of Oregon's Autzen Stadium Saturday.

The Patriots play St. Charles Catholic for the state's 2A title Friday night. With a 35-10 win over Hillsboro, No. 13 Maryville, Tenn., became the first team in that state's history to go unbeaten in winning three-straight state titles. The Rebels will enter the 2007 season riding a 45-game win streak.No. 15 Bellevue, Wash., won its fifth Class 3A title in six years by knocking off Kennedy, 21-14, in overtime last Friday.No. 38 Canyon, Calif., made another strong statement for inclusion in the first CIF State Championship Bowl Games by flying by previously unbeaten Westlake, 42-7. The Cowboys are averaging 62.5 points per game in their last six outings.No. 42 Osbourn, Va., is one of the better turnaround stories in the country. The Eagles will play for the state's Division 6 title Saturday, just two years after struggling through a 3-7 season that included five-straight losses.No. 60 South Panola, Miss., captured its fourth-straight state title and notched its 60th-straight win by knocking off Meridian in the state's 5A championship last Friday.No. 65 Columbine scored somewhat of an upset in the Colorado 5A title game, beating Mullen 13-10. The Patriots - whose national-best win streak now stands at 107 games - needed overtime to dispatch the Bulldogs the first time around, earning a come-from-behind, 30-24 win in early November. This time, Indy rolled to an easy 49-23 victory that puts them back in the 4AA title game against Durham Riverside Saturday.No. 82 Clovis East, Calif., avenged its only loss of the season by stomping archrival Clovis West, 33-14, in the Central Section Division championship game Friday.Ohio Mr. Football Brandon Saine ran for 241 yards and three touchdowns in No. 91 Piqua's 26-7 win over Pickerington Central in the state's Division II championship game.No. 95 Garland, Texas, entered the 2006 season with high expectations (including a top 25 national preseason ranking by MaxPreps), but back-to-back losses in September left the Owls slightly off the radar entering the 5A Division II state playoffs. After wins over Longview and Leander the last two weeks, they have everybody's attention once again entering the quarterfinals this weekend.
