Last Friday wasn't at all kind to Crossland, but their most recent game may have softened the blow. They walked away with a 24-14 victory. High Point can consider this payback for the 14-20 defeat they dealt Crossland the last time the teams encountered one another.
Crossland's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 16 points in the first half. High Point came up with 8 to make it 16-8 heading into the break. The other side of the ball was dominant for Crossland in the second half, holding High Point to a measly 6 points.
Senior Darius Mcbride, who rushed for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in Crossland's success. On the defensive end, they got some fancy footwork from junior Aj Mccall, who dodged the offensive line for 3 sacks. The win got them back to even at 1-1. The loss dropped High Point's record to 0-2.
Next week Crossland take on Laurel at 2:00 PM. High Point will be defending their home turf for the first time when they go up against Central at 7:00 PM.
