Porterville (Calif.) received a huge boost from its defense against West (Bakersfield, Calif.), as the unit scored 12 in defeating West (Bakersfield, Calif.), 62-24.
After nabbing the lead on a Fondereaux Wilson touchdown run, the Vikings went into halftime with a 33-20 lead. The Panthers took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Wilson in the first quarter.
Porterville secured its victory by scoring zero points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 38.
Porterville's most effective player was
Dennis Chester. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The loss comes after West defeated East Bakersfield 31-21 last week.
Porterville (2-0) goes up against Buchanan in a non-conference game matchup next week, while West (1-1) locks horns with North also in a non-conference game.
