Highland took their game against Mascoutah on Friday by a conclusive 41-7 score. Fans of Highland have seen this all before: every one of Highland's games this year has ended as a stomp.
Highland started the match off right with 21 first-half points. Meanwhile, Mascoutah couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 21-0 heading into the break. Highland put the match away in the third quarter with 13 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
No one put up better numbers for Highland than senior Jack Etter, who brought his A game into the match. He passed for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns. Etter has been a consistent playmaker for Highland as this was the 8th good game in a row from him. Senior Sam LaPorta was in the mix, too, providing Highland with two touchdowns. They added further sheen to their flawless record, now 8-0. The defeat dropped Mascoutah's record to 5-3.
After their action against one another, the teams are leaving the conference to test themselves against outside opponents. Highland will stay at home next week against Charleston at 7:00 PM. As for Mascoutah, they will face off against Centralia.
