Section 3 Class AA 1 recap October 1, 2013
Christian Brothers Academy extended the longest winning streak in Section 3 Class AA 1 this week by beating West Genesee, 41-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Brothers.
Cicero-North Syracuse moved up to 128 from 230 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Northstars were able to move up by beating Corcoran 34-14.
Cicero-North Syracuse's Owen Dziados and Vincenzo Iannuzzo have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dziados has thrown for 478 yards this season, while Iannuzzo, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 10 catches for 124 yards. Josh Smith from Central Square leads the league in rushing with 360 yards.
Two of the top units in Section 3 Class AA 1 will face off this week when Joe Sindoni's team takes on Henninger. The Northstars' offense has recorded 62 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Black Knights have permitted only 38 on the year.
The Redhawks are currently in sixth, while Christian Brothers Academy is in first.
Henninger was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. David Kline's team defeated Central Square 55-0 earlier in the week.
