PHOENIX, Ariz. -
Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) extended its winning streak to six games with a 59-7 victory over Westwood (Mesa, Ariz.) on Saturday.
The Broncos were up 56-7 at the half after taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by
Devon Allen in the first quarter.
Brophy College Prep expanded its lead to 52 points entering the fourth quarter. BCP's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by
Aiden McCabe.
A 28-point first quarter set the table for the Phoenix school, which coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
Mike Egger made a difference for the Warriors. The senior threw one touchdown.
Tyler Bruggman was the top performer for the Broncos. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. A member of the Top Pro-Style Quarterbacks, Bruggman has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Westwood's lone touchdown came on an 85-yard pass from Egger to Ty Dale in the second quarter.
Coming into the game Brophy College Prep had allowed 19.1 points per game this year. BCP held firm on the defensive front, and kept WHS below the 13.0 points it had been averaging per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-15 win for the Broncos.
Brophy College Prep (8-2) goes up against Pinnacle in a I Section III game matchup next week, while Westwood (1-8) locks horns with Mountain Pointe also in a I Section III game.
