Jenks Dooms Muskogee
In a shootout, Mark Ginther led Jenks one step closer to its 11th state championship with a 52-35 victory over Muskogee in front of 13,500 fans at Union-Tuttle Stadium in Tulsa.
Ginther, a junior, was simply sensational. Ginther completed 19 of 30 passes for 183 yards, while junior running back Chris Adkins added 202 rushing yards. Ginther mastered Muskogee's Legion of Doom defense for three touchdowns through the air, while adding one on the ground. Adkins had two fourth quarter touchdowns for Jenks.
Muskogee also had some offensive success against Jenks, throwing for 370 yards on the night. Quarterback Rell Lewis had 390 total yards, including 265 and three touchdowns passing, 77 yards and one touchdown rushing, while also grabbing two passes for 48 yards. Junior wide receiver Jameel Owens, who is regarded as one of the top recruiting prospects in the country next season, had three receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns, including a 92-yarder from Lewis in the second quarter.
Jenks raced out to a 28-14 halftime lead before Muskogee roared back. The Roughers tied the game at 28 when running back Jarrod Horn, who was replacing the injured Dre' Stout, scored his fifth rushing touchdown in two weeks with a 3-yard effort.
Jenks took control in the fourth with 17 unanswered points. Muskogee finishes the season at 10-3, while Jenks moves to 12-1 on the campaign and will be playing in its first state final since 2004. In 2004, Jenks lost to Tulsa Union 27-17. Jenks won their last 6A crown in 2003.

Class 5A Recap
Super-Sophomore Oku Runs Carl Albert Into Final
He may have been quiet in recent weeks, but David Oku broke out in a big way in Carl Albert's 31-24 victory over East Central. Oku scored on a 27-yard touchdown scamper with 49 seconds left to move the Titans into their first state final since 2004, when they defeated Tulsa Washington to win the state championship.
Alonzo Anderson continued his dominant playoff run, rushing for 241 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown before leaving due to an ankle injury. Through three playoff games, Anderson has rushed for 672 yards and 10 touchdowns on 48 carries, a startling 14 yards per carry.
With the score tied at 24, East Central's Travis Eason missed a potential go-ahead field goal with 4:15 remaining from 28-yards. Carl Albert responded with an eight play-80 yard drive, capped off by Oku's touchdown run.
East Central quarterback Brooklyn Fox threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns in the losing effort.
Lawton MacArthur Downs Guthrie
Lawton MacArthur made its 0-3 start to the season a distant memory, moving to a Class 5A showdown with Carl Albert with a 14-12 victory over Guthrie.
Guthrie junior quarterback Kye Staley's two-point conversion pass with 1:58 remaining sailed incomplete. Guthrie was set up to tie the game after Clayton Smith scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. The onside kick attempt was scooped up by MacArthur, dashing the dreams of a state championship and a chance at revenge against Carl Albert.
MacArthur raced out to a 14-0 lead with touchdowns runs by Dominique Whaley and Levon Butler. Quarterback Austin Giles had just 78 total yards for the Highlanders, but made a key interception in the third quarter to stall a Guthrie drive at the 19-yard line.
